Community Service – St. Ann School celebrates service

We were told by Christ to serve one another. He gave us an example by his washing his disciples’ feet. Just as he served, we should too…all of us. St. Ann School will emphasize service and respect throughout this year.

Following are some examples of how our students are serving others:

3200 Community Service Hours are performed by Middle School students annually

The student body raises funds through the Rice Bowl Collection during Lent, and through the Holy Childhood fundraiser, which encourages giving from children to children.

All students continually participate in a non-perishable food drive for the St. Vincent DePaul Food Bank.

The National Junior Honor Society raised over $5700 for Hurricane Katrina relief, brought in hundreds of items for victims of Hurricane Wilma, raised enough money for a shelter box to help a family in a refugee camp in Africa, collected clean cotton button-down shirts for migrant workers in Immokalee, raised money through Junior Honor Society to supply 20 hams and 20 turkey for Catholic Charities.

Students in grades 3-5 who participated in the Young Entrepreneur Expo earned $660 which was donated to St. Vincent DePaul, Make-A-Wish, and the Collier County Pregnancy Center.

33 St. Ann students serve as altar servers at St. Ann Parish.

Student participation in the Lenten meager meal raised over $250 for St. Vincent DePaul.

St. Ann School donated more than 200 books, Kleenex and 20 class planners to Catholic Charities for use in Immokalee.
