Fourth Annual Father & Son Fishing Tournament

      Huge Success!
By
Jim Buonavolonta
Chairman of the Tournament

I am happy to report that the Fourth Annual Saint Ann Father/Son Fishing Tournament was a great success.  Approximately 150 participants attended the event.  I would like to say that although the official name of the event is the Father/Son tournament, significant others including grandfathers, stepfathers, and friends of our boys participated.  There were approximately 200 total catches.  We used 1,500 shrimp as bait.  Six trophies were up for grabs.  One trophy for each of the biggest catches and one for the most unusual.  Altogether 19 species were caught including: Remora, Bluefish, Whiting, Lady fish, Sea trout, Mangrove snapper, Pinfish, Sailcat, Red drum, Blue runner, Flounder, Snook, Stone crab, Lane snapper, Bonnetthead shark, Blowfish, Jack, Mutton snapper, and Mollusk.

The winners are as follows:

First Place: Team Caballero: Hank, Zachary, Matthew - 40-inch Bonnethead shark

Second Place
: Team Borges:  Roland, Roland Jr. – 36-inch Remora

Third Place
: Team Burland: Russ, Michael, Christopher, Jack - 24-inch Bonnethead

Fourth Place:
Team Kraus:   Tom, Logan – 19-inch Snook

Fifth Place
: Team Fumagalli:  John, Jack - 18½-inch Lady fish

Most Unusual:
Team Tosto:  John, Jonathan, Ryan - 4½ inch Mollusk

I want to extend my sincere appreciation to all that helped me with the event including Ralph and Ana Martinez, Leo Kythreotis, Hank Caballero, Mike Yon, John Tosto, Dr. Solnes Tobal, Fred Wallon, Joyce Mack, and of course, Mr. Bridges.  I also want to thank my son James, for carrying a first-aid kit during the tournament.

See you all next year at the Fifth Annual Saint Ann Father/Son Fishing Tournament!
