Middle School

Spirit

  • Daily prayer and religion class, weekly Mass, K4J Virtues program, Retreats (6th, 7th grade on campus; 8th grade 2-day overnight retreat at Daysprings Retreat Center, Ellenton, FL), reconciliation services, and special seasonal services.
  • Service hour requirement: 6th grade - 20 hrs, 7th grade - 30 hrs, 8th grade - 40 hrs. (National Junior Honor Society members have a greater service hour requirement). The Class of 2013's thirty students logged over 2500 service hours last year.
  • Participation in the Naples Police Department Do the Right Thing Award Program
    • 2012-13: Five students were honored with awards

Mind

  • Teacher to student ratio is approximately 1:17
  • St. Ann School middle school students consistently score, on average, 2-4 years ahead in each category for grade equivalency for the nation on the ITBS national standardized test.
    • On average, each year, 40-50% of St. Ann 7th graders score high enough on their ITBS tests to qualify to take the high school SAT or ACT as part of the Duke TIP (Talent Identification Program).
      • 2012 - Three students received State Recognition from Duke TIP
      • 2013 – Five students received State Recognition from Duke TIP
  • High School Prep classes, Honors classes, and Advanced classes offered.
    • Honors classes - English, Literature, Math, Science.
    • Advanced classes - High School Algebra 1 Honors; High School Spanish 1, French 1, Latin 1, Chinese 1 (Offered in the St. Ann Florida Virtual School lab)
  • Latest in-class technology featuring:
    • Interactive whiteboards, doc cameras, teacher laptops and iPads, in-class computer stations.
    • The recently renovated middle school computer lab is used for computer classes and special projects.
    • New 1:1 iPad program
    • Online textbooks available for many subjects
  • Middle school music offered
    • 6th grade Band program
    • 7th/8th grade Advanced Band with annual band competition trip to Disney World or Universal.
      • 2012 - 7th/8th grade Advanced Band achieved an Excellent rating in the Music USA Competition
      • 2013 - 7th/8th grade Advanced Band achieved a Superior rating in the Music USA Competition
    • Christmas Band/Choir Concert with elementary school Christmas Pageant and Spring Band/Choir Concert
    • Choir is offered after school. The St. Ann Children's Choir is featured at the weekly school Mass and monthly at the St. Ann Church 11am Sunday Mass.
  • Art program each year for middle school students, which includes participation in:
    • Collier County Public and Private Schools Art Show
    • Annual Student Art Exhibition at Naples Museum of Art
    • Diocese of Venice art competitions
  • National Junior Honor Society available for qualified students. (Eligible beginning spring of 6th grade) NJHS meets weekly and leads numerous service projects campus-wide during the school year.
  • 7th graders participate in the local middle school Junior Achievement program.
  • All students compete to participate in the Collier County Laws of Life
    • 2011 – One student First Place and One student Second Place, overall in the county.
    • 2013 – One student Second Place overall in the county.
  • All students compete to participate in the Collier County Science Fair
    • 2012 - One student Best in Show (went to state Science Fair), One student First Place, One student Honorable Mention
    • 2013 - One student Best in Show, won a Full Scholarship to FGCU (went to state Science Fair), One student First Place, One student Second Place, One student Third Place.
  • Students can choose to participate in World Quest, GeoBee, the Collier County Spelling Bee, and the Collier County Scholar Bowl.
    • 2013 - One student qualified for the State of Florida Geo Bee
    • 2013 - Three students went on to compete in the Collier County Spelling Bee
    • 2013 - St. Ann Scholar Bowl team took first place in Collier County's Southern Division and placed third in the county overall
  • 8th grade spring trip to Washington, DC (8th grade students fundraise all year to ensure that all students are able to meet their expenses to go on this comprehensive trip to our nation's capital.)

Body

  • JV (6th grade) and Varsity Sports (7th/8th grade) (no cut policy)
