Education of Spirit, Mind, and Body

Located in Old Naples, on 8th Avenue South, five blocks from the Gulf of Mexico, we are the oldest continuing Catholic school in Naples. The purpose of a Catholic education is to integrate academic excellence with religious truth and moral certainty, the dignity of all human persons and the fulfillment of a faith community. Saint Ann Catholic School reflects this purpose in its mission: “Education of Mind, Body, and Spirit.” Saint Ann Catholic School has been serving the Catholic families in Collier and Lee County since 1956.

Academic excellence is reflected in the quality of our core curriculum established by the Diocese, the diversity of our elective curriculum, and the success of our extra-curriculum in our local community. We are served by a highly qualified faculty. Each teacher strives to provide an exceptional teaching and learning environment. Each teacher is committed to his/her individual spiritual development and the spiritual development of our students. This excellence is objectively quantified by the school-wide high-percentage performance on the IOWA Test of Basic Skills. We have a significant number of students qualify for the Duke University Talent Identification Program every year. Saint Ann Catholic School provides diverse learning opportunities in music and the performing arts. Middle School students have band as an elective course, starting with Beginning Band in Grade 6, and intensifying with Advanced Band in Grade 7 & 8. In the last four years, our Advanced Band has qualified for and performed at Walt Disney World as part of the Disney Music Days. We offer Speech and Drama as a Middle School elective, and the Drama Department has flourished to include both a Fall and Spring performance for students in Grades 4-8. Our extra-curricular activities include a strong athletic program. Intramural sports are offered for grades Pre-K through Grade 4 in soccer and basketball. Our Grade 5-8 students participate in the Sunshine Athletic Conference. Available sports include Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Track and Field and Golf. Our JV and Varsity teams enjoy great success. In 2008-2009 alone, our teams have secured three JV Conference Championships and three Varsity District Championships and Finals appearances. Our Scholar Bowl Academic Team has successfully reached is District semi-final round in the last three years, and in 2005 won the Conference Championship. Our students are taught to heed the call to the service of others, by offering community service hours through Student Council, National Junior Honor Society, the Congressional Youth Leadership Conference, Boys & Girls Clubs, and Boy and Girl Scouts.

Our Faith Community supports our school. Saint Ann Parish and Saint Ann Catholic School are under the careful stewardship of the Oblates of St. Francis De Sales, a teaching order working within our Diocese. Our devoted parish clergy and religious sisters ensure that our students experience faith formation as part and parcel of every school day. Our parish church is adjacent to our campus, and the students attend mass at Saint Ann Church minimally once a week. The Blessed Sacrament is in repose at all times on our campus in the St. Joachim Chapel, where our students can and do engage in Eucharistic adoration and the recitation of the Rosary. We are blessed to have the Saint Ann School Foundation, a not-for profit organization that raises money, and funds hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships, and generously assists with the financial stability of our school. The Foundation also assists families with need who desire to have their children attend Saint Ann School. Through the generosity of our parents we have an active and vibrant Home & School Association and Athletic Booster Club to support students, faculty and staff. In 2006, Saint Ann Catholic School completed a three phase physical plant project providing two new classroom buildings, allowing for smaller class sizes; a new gymnasium; an auditorium; a school kitchen; a library and media center; and a science laboratory. A tour of our new and upgraded campus quickly assures any prospective parent and student that we provide a safe and enhanced environment in which our students live and learn.

Most importantly, though, is what happens inside the walls of our new buildings and inside the souls and minds of our students. Saint Ann Catholic School provides the fullest and best opportunity in Collier and Lee County for our families and children to realize the “new evangelization” of the faithful to which we are all called. At Saint Ann Catholic School we are prepared and are meeting that call. We welcome you to our faith community at Saint Ann Catholic School.
